Hey there, I’m Kyle Ingham, founder of The Distilled Man.
Welcome to the site!
These days, a lot of guys grow up without many of the classic skills their fathers and grandfathers had. Like knowing how to cook a perfect steak. How to mix a cocktail. Or how to give a toast.
The Distilled Man is dedicated to giving guys a second chance to discover these lost “gentlemanly” arts.
Simply put, our mission is to help guys become better men.
It’s not about being macho or bedding a bunch of chicks. It’s about re-connecting with something timeless and fundamental.
Whether you are already a master of the grill and just want to learn a few tips on mixology…Or whether you feel like the “manliness gene” skipped a generation and you’re starting from square one, you’re in the right place.

More about me
So how did all of this start?
A few years ago, I realized I couldn’t really grill. I mean, I could throw a mangled burger patty on the fire and end up with something edible just like the next guy. I’m sure I could have gone on with life and survived hundreds of “successful” backyard barbecues.
But one day, the best way to describe it is that MY BIOLOGICAL GRILLING CLOCK WENT OFF.
I was working at an advertising agency at the time, and my job was pretty demanding—never a moment to really slack off. But all of the sudden, all I could do was think about grilling. Something primal inside me told me I NEEDED to be grilling animal flesh. I spent a good 3 or 4 days in a state of total distraction while I searched Craigslist for the perfect used Weber barbecue.
Once I got my barbecue and started grilling, I realized I wasn’t naturally good at it. But somehow I felt like I was SUPPOSED to know. I mean, it’s a guy thing, right?
So, I dove headlong into learning to grill. I bought books, I learned from friends who were good at grilling. Even from chefs.
As I went through the process, I realized that there are a bunch of other skills like this that every guy is expected know. Changing a tire. Tying a tie. Even how to talk to girls. “Man skills,” I guess you’d call them.
But unless your brother or your dad teaches you this stuff when you’re growing up, how do you learn? I realized that if I wanted to learn these things, then there were probably other guys who’d want to learn as well.
And with that, The Distilled Man was born.
The Distilled Man features educational articles and videos that help you tackle new manly skills and live like a well-rounded gentleman.
I don’t consider myself an expert in all these topics. That’s why I make it a point to always do research and interview experts.
The site and my weekly newsletter are filled with practical tips that can help you feel more confident about everyday stuff in life, and—let’s face it—help you look good around your friends, love interests, and coworkers. Which is never a bad thing, right?
