Welcome to The Distilled Man!
My name is Kyle Ingham, and I started this channel to share my own journey of becoming a better man.
The Distilled Man provides practical tips on social mastery, self-development…and what I call the gentlemanly arts.
You’re probably here because you’ve realized (like I did) that:
- Life doesn’t come with an instruction manual, and
- The things that make you truly successful and fulfilled aren’t taught in school
As men, we’re expected to have—in Liam Neeson’s words—a “certain set of skills.”
From tangible skills, like how to mix a cocktail or tie a tie…
…to softer skills like how to be a good conversationalist.
But the truth is, many of us grow up without knowing these things. Not because we’re lesser men…but because we just never learned.
The Distilled Man is dedicated to giving guys a second chance to discover these lost gentlemanly arts.
Simply put, our mission is to help guys become better men.
It’s not about being macho or bedding a bunch of chicks. It’s about being the best possible version of yourself.
Unfortunately, many other websites for men out there are just full of trendy, superficial fluff.
My goal at The Distilled Man is to set a higher bar by giving you valuable content that reflects my core beliefs:
- Being the best version of yourself is a journey, not a destination
- Action beats talk
- It’s NEVER too late to improve who you are
- Intelligence is an aphrodisiac
- Connecting with other people is better than being right all the time
Am I an expert in all things gentleman/man?
No, I’m just a regular guy like you. But for the last 7 years, I’ve dedicated my life to learning how to become a better, more well-rounded man.
Think of me as a helpful guide on the same path as you…perhaps just a few steps ahead in my journey.
If you want to hear my story and why I started The Distilled Man, read on.
Why I Started The Distilled Man
It was a Wednesday morning at the ad agency where I worked. And no matter how hard I tried, I could NOT focus on work.
You see, a few days earlier it was like a switch suddenly flipped inside me:
My biological grilling clock went off.
Up until that point, I was a stressed-out advertising executive, toiling away in the THRILLING world of Pharmaceutical Advertising. Making great money, but feeling like my soul was slowly dying each day.
Now, instead of worrying about my client’s campaigns, all I could think about was cooking meat over an open flame.
Even though I had barbecued before, I suddenly realized something: I wasn’t good at grilling. And that bothered me.
“Isn’t grilling something every man is supposed to know?”, I thought.
From that point, I dove headlong into learning how to grill. I bought books. I watched videos. I learned from friends…even from chefs.
And as I went through that process, I noticed that there were other skills that guys are just expected know.
Like changing a tire. Shaving with a safety razor. Even how to talk to girls. “Man skills,” I guess you’d call them.
But unless your brother or your dad teaches you this stuff when you’re growing up, how do you learn?
I realized that if I wanted to learn these things, then there were probably other guys who’d want to learn them as well.
And with that, The Distilled Man was born.
Since then, I’ve had the good fortune to connect with thousands of men who share the desire to raise the bar in their lives. To challenge themselves, to learn, to grow…and to bring that positive momentum back into their relationships, their careers, and their communities.
