Welcome to The Distilled Man!
My name is Kyle Ingham, and I started this online community to help men grow in all areas of their lives—so they can become better friends, brothers, husbands, fathers, and leaders.
At a certain age, you realize that life doesn’t come with an instruction manual.
And the things that make you truly successful and fulfilled aren’t taught in school.
You also begin to realize that you can’t go it alone.
Self-reliance is a noble trait, but the truth is, no man can achieve greatness without help.
Unfortunately, many other men’s magazines and websites are just full of trendy, superficial fluff.
This site isn’t about buying the latest designer outfit or ridiculous gadget…or bedding a bunch of chicks.
It’s about being the best possible version of yourself.
What you’ll find at The Distilled Man:
- Inspiration and practical tips on social mastery, self-development, and the “gentlemanly arts”
- Weekly podcast where experts and best-selling authors provide their raw, unfiltered advice on how to live a better life
- In-depth articles and videos that will help guide you through the nuts & bolts of becoming a better man
At this point, you might be wondering, who am I?
Am I an expert in all things gentleman/man? No, I’m just a regular guy like you.
But for the last 8 years, I’ve dedicated my life to learning how to become a better, more well-rounded man.
Think of me as a helpful guide on the same path as you…perhaps just a few steps ahead.
If you want to hear my story and why I started The Distilled Man, read on.
Why I Started The Distilled Man
It was a Wednesday morning at the ad agency where I worked. And no matter how hard I tried, I could NOT focus on work.
You see, a few days earlier it was like a switch suddenly flipped inside me:
My biological grilling clock went off.
Up until that point, I was a stressed-out advertising executive, toiling away in the THRILLING world of Pharmaceutical Advertising. Making great money, but feeling like my soul was slowly dying each day.
Now, instead of worrying about my client’s campaigns, all I could think about was cooking meat over an open flame.
Even though I had barbecued before, I suddenly realized something: I wasn’t good at grilling. And that bothered me.
“Isn’t grilling something every man is supposed to know?” I thought.
From that point, I dove headlong into learning how to grill. I bought books. I watched videos. I learned from friends…even from chefs.
And as I went through that process, I noticed that there were other skills that guys are just expected know.
Shaving with a safety razor. Tying a tie. Making a cocktail. “Man skills,” I guess you’d call them.
But beyond the tangible abilities guys are expected to have, “soft skills” are just as important—sometimes more important.
Feeling comfortable in social situations. Knowing how to lead. Learning how to take care of yourself and others.
Basically, how to be a grown-ass man.
But unless your brother or dad teaches you this stuff when you’re growing up, how do you learn?
I thought, if I wanted to learn these things, then there were probably other guys who’d want to learn them as well.
And with that, The Distilled Man was born.
Since starting to focus on my own development as a man, my life has transformed in countless ways:
- Improving my relationships and professional connections
- Taking decisive ownership of my actions and the course of my life
- Truly understanding the importance of how I “show up” in the world
- Marrying the woman of my dreams and recently having our first son
- Creating greater focus and momentum in my life to go after whatever I set my sights on
In that time, I’ve also had the honor of connecting with thousands of other men who share the desire to raise the bar in their lives.
To challenge themselves, to learn, to grow…and to bring that positive momentum back into their relationships, their careers, and their communities.
